PUNE dvije godine Ameri su čekali na veliki povratak. Buđenje još jedne legende je najznačajniji događaj otkako je Ford prije tri godine predstavio dosljednog nasljednika prvog i jedinog pravog Mustanga.
Kad je prije dvije godine američki gigant u Detroitu predstavio studiju novog Challengera malo tko je očekivao da bi gotovo istovjetan automobil mogao dočekati serijsku proizvodnju. Snažan pritisak javnosti i redom pozitivne kritike dale su svoje - Dodge predstavlja najiščekivaniji model na američkom tržištu. Ne sumnjamo da bi ga i mnogi na Starom kontinentu htjeli za sebe, no to se neće desiti još neko vrijeme.

Naime, Dodge će tijekom ove godine u prodaju pustiti tek 6.400 primjeraka, i to sve odreda u najsnažnijoj SRT8 izvedbi pokretanoj 6.1 V8 HEMI motorom. Ovako motorizirani Challenger raspolaže sa 431 KS i 565 Nm, što mu omogućava da uhvati 96 km/h za manje od pet sekundi, četvrt milje prijeđe za 14 sekundi, dok radnju ubrzanja do 160 km/h i potom zaustavljanje odradi za 17 sekundi. A sada ono najbolje: Challenger SRT8 stoji 37.995 USD.

Na estetske vrijednosti najnovijeg predstavnika muscle-car filozofije ne treba trošiti riječi. Stoga odmah prelazimo na podatak kako model dijeli LX platformu sa Chargerom i Chryslerom 300, i što se čini važnije, osjetno je veći no što se stječe dojam iz fotografija. Primjera radi, Mustang ima gotovo 23 cm kraći razmak između osovina.

Kad smo kod usporedbi recimo i kako Fordov pastuh starta cijenom od 19.490 USD (V6), slabiji GT (4.6 V8) je 6.500 USD skuplji, dok ultimativni Shelby GT 500 ima cijenu od 42.170 USD.
Dodge će početkom iduće godine lansirati i slabiju 5.7 HEMI izvedbu, kao i ulazni V6. Tek tada Challenger će dobiti puni zamah na američkom tržištu, a najvjerojatnije se okušati i na europskom tlu.
